Those meters are installed to monitor ur engine parameters. Monitoring those parameters will let u know if there is sumthin wrong for example boost leaks, loss of oil pressure, loss of fuel pressure, engine overheating. Shift lamps are indicators on when u should be shifting up. The right RPM can be set according to which RPM ur powerband starts to drop so that u dont over rev hence loosing time & fuel.2) Shift lamps are use to indicate when to shift up so its only for manual transmission.3) That depends on the individual but their main purpose is to monitor those engine parameters.Hope that helps.
