Perdana V6 Gearbox Problem

Wah! atf cooler alone not good enough? Maybe because your turbo?:driver:

can, but I advice to add a fan infront of the cooler.

because most temperature spike is during traffic jams which barely got any air moving to cools the oil cooler...

hence my satria oso got the ATF cooler+fans.... :biggrin: :driver:


but now since moving to no-jam area...it would be the most un-used mods i've done to my car... :rofl:

its better la becos of our hot climate, even the last batch of pv6 05-10 model are equipped with ATF cooler but the gbox still breaks down.
 
is your gbox equipped with an ATF cooler?
you only choice is to convert to manual tranny.

Yup. Equipped with ATF cooler since day 1.

Updated today, the gear suddenly not engaged and engine free rev. But no metal to metal felt inside the gearbox like before.
 
design problem? If other cars can survive even without the atf coolers....:smokin:

i think its more due to application design which is the perdana v6 torque already reaching 200Nm....and the gearbox maybe only holds around that same level of torque....hence its a 50-50 risk

Hi guys,

My PV6 GB has two probs:

1.When start car in morning, shift to D car can hardly move..to resolve i have to shift to L instead and car moves after 10-20 sec
2.After driving for few KM, car shd be on 2 gear then RPM shoots up and back

any idea for these two prob? can an oil and filter change act as a temp remedy?

your gbox is giving signs that its gonna kong soon, u could try servicing the valve body, but cant guarantee on how long it could last, it will costs approx. RM700-800.

adding or changing your ATF wont help either.

u have few options.
1. buy 2nd hand halfcut gbox
2. buy recond gbox
3. convert to manual transmission
4. buy whole halfcut 4G63T/6a12TT

2. buy recond gbox......I know price range is like RM1.2-2K depending on warranty
3. convert to manual transmission.............not an option
4. buy whole halfcut 4G63T/6a12TT..........not an option

if we gonna sepnd 800-900 to replace valve body might as well tukar recond gb..tul x?
 
Buy a recond gb and add an oil cooler will give the GB significantly longer life. I don't usually high rev and the GB lasted another 100,000km since I took over from previous owner.
Used gb from half cut is a 50/50 bet.

then u are left with option 1 & 2.
option 1 - not sure bout the price, but surely less than rm1.5k
option 2 - u could also opt for overhauling your gearbox, but u are left without the car for a couple of days.

btw, if u retain your autobox, I suggest u install an external fan infront of your ATF cooler with manual switch. only turn it on when stuck in jam or city driving.
 
The auto gb of the Perdana V6 and SEi as well as my original Super Saloon all no use one.
Mine was changed to chop shop one also died within 6 months...:thefinger:
