Hi guys!!

Just want to know from those guys with oil temp, oil press and water temp meter, what their readings are for their B16 and B18 engines.

Mine is:-

Oil Temp Normal cruising 85'c to 95'c then SIC track 125'c to 140'c
Oil Pressure WOT before Vtec 6 bar then WOT in vtec 4 bar
Water temp Normal cruising 70 to 80'c then SIC track 90'c to 95'c

I'm already running oil cooler. The same oil cooler on my previous Satria Gti my oil temp in SIC track only max 110'c.

So i just wondering whether the high oil temp for Honda is normal or not cause my friend said the DC5-R register 150'c in track without oil cooler.

thanks.

Chris

your track oil temp with oil cooler is too high. a dc5R with oil cooler only circa ard 110-120'c in sic. my b16 without oil cooler is about the same as yours with oil cooler.

oil temp should be 120'c max..if higher u need to use good thick engine oils..

u can go up to 130'c but anything above that is very dangerous. even if your oil can withstand it, the surrounding rubber parts might not be able to last...

this is crazy to go up that high for oil temp ,what grade motor oil are you using ?

means alot of heat in yoru engine and you radiator and all are not doing a good job.

best for oil temp not more then 110 so the velosity wont drop much and also the the oil does not lose its velosity .

water temp try geting low temp thermostat that will help abit or change to a dc2r radiator and aircond condesor will be nicer

Hi guys,

Actually i don't know why the oil temp so high also..

Actually my car with oil cooler and koyo aluminium radiator with 1.1bar cap already. And using Castrol RS 10w60 oil.

I suspect is the car running lean at high revs but need to confirm. Coz i ask a few guys and they told me at racing speed oil temp bout 130'c is ok, coz they say when you see those Option Videos, those guys oil temp also bout 130-140'c. I was not confortable with that answer as my previous Satria GTI only 105-115'c only in track.

u may be right... my track temp went up to 130'c may be due to lean fuel after 6k rpm.

nola i think its b coz u rev ur b16b to 9k rpm ler..........hehehe.

Hi guys...

Just thought of sharing with you guys...

I had my air-fuel adjusted only at WOT from 7 to 9k rpm, by adding about 5 - 8% more fuel to bring the air/fuel ratio down to about 12.3 to 12.6.

I tested the car again on yesterday track day. Track was damn and cold, and my oil temp now only show a max of 120'c even after 6 laps!!! Since yesterday weather is cold i suppose when its a hot and sunny day the oil temp should only be 125-130'c only..

But the offset was when revving the car in the high rev was a bit heavier and less eager to go compare to the previous set-up... I suppose this is the draw back for a safe margin a/f...
