hi all, i'm starting this thread in hopes that someone who is somebody or knows somebody in the motorsport world would post any autokhana events as i think i'm not the only one who is rather interested in participating in one.

any tips regarding setup and the do's and dont's of autokhana are all greatly appreciated :)

thanks guys.

This year, there are 2 of such events that i know of : kks autocross, and the streetshootout. Autocross shud be more fun than autokhana, as the speeds are faster. Anyway, both are almost the same, just the speed diff. The kks event is in May, while the sso (streetshootout) i heard is gonna be in june.

Basically bring wat u drive, that is the way of autocross. Get ur car alignment done properly, take out all unnecessary things, loose items, bring a helmet, and drive it like u stole it when they say GO! That's the basics of it. But if u think u wanna move on, then there are many things u can do, at a low cost, to make u go faster. ;)

Some do's and don'ts i'm sure most knew, but if u don't......

Copied this from a US autocross website..... more to share if interested.... but will stop boring u guys for the time being :p
SCCA = Sports Car Club of America

No need AAM License from now on as it is called the KKS Autocross.
So it is a club event and no AAM racing license needed...cool
Stock Putra will be in KillerB's class...hehe

whatdamn,

how's yr Putra coming along? the next Autocross will be 22 May. Just come and join the fun. Beware you'll get hooked he hee:)

I did my first Autokhana last year then never looked back since. got tricked into it by KillerB he heh.. nice guy, known him since pirmary school. very very experienced and excellent driver.

will PM u;)

Whatdamn,

Welcome to grassroot racing.....

Yup... KillerB was right Autocross is more fun. In fact, I myself prefer autocross.
I think I might have seen you before. Where do you guys TT usually?

For comparison. KKS Autocross is more towards Gymkhana style. SSO is pure autocross.

LanNismo,

1st timer no need to re-build cars. just make sure brakes and engine working well. after the event you'll have a better idea what you want to improve on and mod. even the champ is doing continuous improvement.;)

Haha I don't mind small roundabouts, in fact I love it! LOL.

It's the kerbs and trees that's a killer. :D

KillerB where are u...
LanNismo(novice) needs help, that includes me too;)

LanNismo
In an Autocross it will be driven harder than normal.
make sure yr car is road worthy, the includes drive shaft and suspensions too, harder absorver setup will reduce bodyroll when taking slaloms and tight turns.
Bracing helps too, the XX bars, stiffens the whole chassis. Less body flex. nicer when taking corners.

Follow KiilerB's Autocross checklist. Practice? me oso need lots of it:p

A healthy drive-shaft is especially important for FF to watch out for and a faulty absorber will slowly provide problems to the FF drive-train.... take care.

when is the next autocross event ar? very sien ler these days... wanna find something to do already :P

ah thanks guys for the replies, looking forward to 22nd may :) anymore details on it pls?

julianpang,
yeah i've met you before at taipan mamak with airfilter and g88 last time...you were a bit high liao haha. when you were telling kim seng about your new absorbers. that was like a looong time ago :)

canken2,
recieved your PM, maybe we can practice together for autocross eh? umm, contemplating on going with stock everything and then decide what to improve from there on. cause i'm sing oem replacement kayabas front and back...wonder if it'll do for now?

killerb,
should i keep my abs on? or should i just remove the fuse as to disable abs? cause i find it a bit wierd when i dive into a corner and brake a little to hard, the abs kicks in and i can't really feel the tyre feedback anymore. anyone can comment on this?

mk84,
what is gymkhana actually? care to explain all the terms and technical mambo-jumbo pls? :)

mrmic2,
thanks for the info..therefore i've saved rm600 haha. :P

thanks guys, keep this thread going :)
