Im having a stock 4AFE engine on AE111 corolla. Planing to have a replacement for the stock clutch set. Im not familiar to third party clutch, pls give me some comment & advise. From the info that i got, the original is about RM6++, Japan brand like exedy is RM4++.

Original if not mistaken 8.0 inch right? If yes, I don't think standard clutch set will costing RM 600 per set..

Original Toyota Genius plate + clutch cover only = RM350 - RM 400 only!

Exerdy majority is Made in Malaysia... Confirmed no Japan Exerdy in our Malaysia spare part shop. Majority is imitation chop made in Japan.

Yes, your standard OEM Exedy Clutch set is manufactured in M'sia (blue box), but if you're getting an Exedy Racing Clutch - (packaged in a red box) it is exclusively made in Japan - no imitation. I would know, i got the info straight from the horses mouth.

If u're in KL there's a shop on jalan ipoh (near 3rd mile, across from Esso/Mobil) where i got mine - direct from the wholesalers. It's not cheap, but it's original.

If you wanna check whether they stock your clutch check http://www.exedy.com.my, and call the hotline - they are friendly and can help with any enquiries.

Good luck.

lwc1983,

i recently bought the organic stage 1 single plate exedy racing clutch.

i have yet to drive the car as it's still being worked on. but thru research, word-of-mouth and the personal advice from the exedy personnel, here are some pros & cons that made me get it:

pros
1. good for daily drive - can do half clutch, other racing ones can't or shouldn't.
2. can take abuse - good for slightly high hp and torque cars. note: for exact figures please visit the website - my definition of slightly is below 250hp.
3. genuine exedy - gives me peace of mind.

cons
1. hard pedal - because it's racing. clutch comes with cover.

conclusion - seems to be meet both daily driving and mild racing needs in the middle.

i won't be able to tell you the real benefits until i've driven the car.

I think Aisin is original Toyota right?

Yeah man! I used that for both 4afe and 4age...now 2yrs and still counting (with occational lenjan here and there la)...good stuff for non trackers and everyday driving..

first, need to know what kind of power / torque you will be putting out.

Exedy Stage 1, usually under 300 WHP, is fine, using organic disc.

Exedy Stage 2 are pulk, thin/ thick, but hold about the same power. More harsh on the pedal feel, hold a big more power.

Exedy Stage 3, which we call hyper single, comes with flywheel. Better then stage 2, also much more expensive.

Exedy also released OEM clutch replacement (less power than stage 1), but I think only for the US market.

Some Spec for you (4AFE)

Stage 1 - Exedy Part # 16804C

Disc Outer Diameter 200mm
Spline Teeth / Major Diameter 21T / 24.1mm

EXEDY organic racing clutches only use premium friction materials that are resistant to slippage and burst. Increased clamp loads give the necessary capacity to handle modified engines. This is the preferred clutch for street and light horsepower track use. Driveability is similar to the stock clutch. Pedal efforts will be slightly higher because of the higher clamp loads. All of our clutch discs have spring center dampers to reduce drivetrain shock.

Exedy Stage 2 - Exedy Part #16954c

Thin / Thick Thick
Disc Outer Diameter 200mm
Spline Teeth / Major Diameter 21T / 24.1mm

EXEDY cerametallic clutches are designed to handle the abuse of high powered modified engines. Our cerametallic friction material can handle much more slippage than stock type disc assemblies without slipping and fading. All cerametallic discs feature spring center dampers to reduce impact and shock loads.

We offer two types of cerametallic discs:

* Normal Thickness (Thick)
* Reduced Thickness (Thin)

Normal thickness discs have greater heat capacity and therefore better durability in demanding applications such as all wheel drive.

Reduced thickness discs offer greatly reduced inertia to improve shift efforts and improve synchro durability. These discs are approximately 1/2 the thickness of a stock disc and are recommended for track use only.
