Although phosphorus is no longer used in gasoline, it (and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc" target="_blank">zinc</a>, another low-level catalyst contaminant) was until recently widely used in engine oil <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AW_additive" target="_blank">antiwear additives</a> such as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZDDP" target="_blank">ZDDP</a>.
