It really doesn't get better than this. Best Motoring's Tsukuba put the two hottest rally kings head-to-head on the track along with their predecessors. The lineup includes the new 2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X vs the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The race also includes the new Mitsubishi Evolution X with manual and SST transmission, the Mitsubishi Evolution IX GSR and the old WRX STi and Evo.

The new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR and MR are both powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC MIVEC engine that produces 295 horsepower. The new Subaru Impreza WRX STi is powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder Dual AVCS 16 Valve DOHC twin scroll turbo engine that produces 305 horsepower.

results looks a bit biased. Keichi Tsuchiya is a drift & motorsport legend in Japan who is driving the Subaru WRX STI. All EVO's happen to be the bottom 3 behind.

Maybe it is becoz it is a friendly match they didn't push the car to its limits.

These BMI shootouts are fun but they aren't conclusive. Especially when they are driven by different drivers and the starting grid is determined by the car with slower time attack. So try not to read too much into it. If you want, look at the cars time attack results. Even then, that only tells you how fast it goes round a track. Back in the real world, that's not even that important, especially when the difference is minimal.

Aiyo.. EvoIX win EvoX on curve oh....
Anyway.. superb!!!!

i agree with bro fish, shoot-outs are exciting, but never conclusive.. still, a good indication to see each car's overall capabilities by comparing their lap timings.. i think there's no doubt that the new sti is significantly faster than the rest..

i love fast cars..

Not really, there's not much difference in BHP between all the cars here (circa 300). Marginal difference at best. And BHP don't make much difference round the corners either. It is the weight.
