The Tan Chong Nissan in Chan Sow Lin is not bad but I also did casually give the impression that I'm surely not a gullible newbie on cars so that might play a factor on how they treat me. But I always do that to any workshops that I visit the first time coz I also think that's important so they will be very careful not to con us.
Thats a good way to prevent ourselves from getting conned.
Maybe i am lucky that i diy most repair myself so i know the price of the part and how hard is a job.sometimes i go to workshop with a friend whom ask me to 'escort' them to provide getting conned,i just lough sinically when the mechanic mention the price and explain how hard it is to do the repair.

when mechanic know that we are knowledgeble and know how to diy,3 different scenario can happen;
Scenario 1 : the mechanic will repair your car and take more attention while doing it.they also wont recommend nonsense repair and charge ridiculus price.

Scenario 2 :the mechanic wont charge for simple job or will take less labor charge from u.

scenario 3: this is the one that can surprise u...the mechanic will said 'senang je ni bang,abg buka ni..ni...ni... pastu bla...bla..bla...,buat sendiri pn boleh'.this is what my regular mech said to me when i send car for small repair which i choose not to.
