Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I can find the 2.5-16v manual transmission? This is the getrag dog leg gear box. AT the moment now am using an auto. Any half cut shops you know selling it? OR if anyone wants a trade in with my auto gear that's fine too!

Auto is not as quick to be paired with this Cosworth thing. However, it appears to be as enjoyable if the kickdown switch is working. Besides, a very clean throttle body and fuel divider meshing ( mini metal gauze filter) is essential. A bottle of Tufoil engine treatment helps in acceleration and a lower reading for the oil temp gauge. In town driving the oil temp should be 80 -90 C.

Hi dude,

Thanks for the advise but I already found parts for the transmission conversion. At least most of it. The reason why I want to convert it is because I do prefer manual, have total control, and that I do want to take it to the track. But anyways do you have a Cosworth as well? Let's meet up or something.

What will I do with the auto trans? I got a spare 2.3-16v engine and one day planning to convert a 124 with that engine as a daily driver. Should make one cool 124 that is even faster than a 300E

It is both, either a 2.3 and 2.5 are available but with 16valves.

Yes, our's is a '86 boneshaker with auto. Will take sometime to bring up the car to specs. The 2.5 dishes out another 10 horses. But the duplex chain though giving better security is the cause of some engine drag. Hence some people are right to say that the 2.3 gives a tad better acceleration.

Hiya dude,

what is that duplex chan you mentioned?

So what is the condition of your car? An original 2.3 16v?

I have heard the 2.3 does give better acceleration that is true!

The 2.5 has two ( rows ) timing chains which may contribute to some engine drag.

Tappets are quieter with a bottle of Tufoil.Besides, oil temp gauge shows good reading.
