hye all,
wanna ask sum thing...
i have an old model ps2 which usinh ac power.
so, i wan to install it in my car.
what should i do to make it work...
i;ve try searching in the market, there is no old ps2(the big ps2, not the slim ones) car power supply.. they only have for ps1 and slim ps2.

should i use dc to ac converter? is it safe? what model, watt rating and estimated cost?or can i modify the ps2 source to dc like the slim ps2(can this be done?)?

also where do u think the most suitable place for me to put the ps2 unit..
in the glove box?in the back seat??

thanx all for the reply...

look for an inverter.
I believe some acc shop or electric shop sell them.
It will look like a box with 1 or 2 house electric plug. Got wire to connect to your Cigarette Lighter in the car.

i'll try to get the inverter...
how bout the watt?? how many watt will work?
also i've heard that using this inverter will also troublesome the monitor and also the sound quality?any advice from anyone that have use this device before?

ps2 fat version are rated at 50w max. it wont affect the quality of screen and sound..where do u heard tat rumour from? i m using it before with my home hifi on my car to test it..result is the same with using home current.....

I have an inverter specifically designed for the PS2 called JoyTech which can power both PS2 and 12V LCD monitor. Bought it at RM 400 but never use at all because PS2 kaput.

yeah play PS2 when driving..........play Burn Out 3.....yeah crash and burn.....and then your real car aslo crashed and burning.

i've doing some research with google of course...
i found some forum that said inverter is a bit unstable...
but thats why i need advice from all of our expert here...

it all depends on the capability/capacity of the inverter. If u draw more than what it has been designed, of course it will not work properly.

car's current will go up and down one... sometimes it will drop till 9V when we do hard braking, sometimes it will rise till 14V when we drive at high speed... mayb thts why they say tht the inverter is not stable cuz the car current is not stable... correct me if i am wrong...

cheers..

Since the PS is using 12V, why don't you construct a voltage stabiliser instead? It just consist of 2 pcs of rect diodes and a couple of caps...

i'm going to electrical shop today to find out more bout inverter...
gonna post bout it soon..

difference between inverter and regulator/stabiliser is the cost.
inverter = 400 - 600 RM.
regulator = 20 - 30 RM.

what is the difference beetween inverter and the regulator???
i think i should buy inverter dc to ac 150watt...

150w inverter

i'm selling those stuff... cliptec brand.

Inverter : convertes DC current to AC current
Regulator : Drops the voltage.

i got 3 customers using it...
1. for using laptop in car.. car repocessor.. hehehe
2. Edfier 2.1 PC speaker system.. use in his iswara...
3. Dis fella just bought it... gonna connect the fat PS2. not yet install.

I was planning to install a small P3 pc inside the car... but why a pc in car?
just a crazy DIY project .. MP3 juke box, creative sound, game, internet, hehehe
but... bz with work.. no time to start it....

the 240 volt for the pc comes from the inverter!!
1. DIY casing... using perspex or plexiglass...
2. get those small mini casing... ie Fujitsu, IBM, or Compaq... those really small cases.
the power supply inside the casing is just 100w ... varies from model to model.
monitor? use dat 7" car lcd screen. as for the RCA input? get those AGP cards with S-Video out!
