Any idea what the ideal FMIC size for stock TD04 turbo? Plan to get evo7 intercooler.

Yeah, the bigger the area the air has to go thru, the more turbo lag (also applicable for longer piping, more lag too). At the same time, better cooling... so ups and downs. That is why original TMIC is balanced between good response and cooling ... just that it's really bad during traffic jams.

juz curious, why chg fmic when using td04?no any big advantage on td04 unless u upgrade to bigger turbo.

hi...

if wanna upgrede bigger turbine...what turbine?? just pnp or modification???

thanx

yup,pnp for td05,td06.
if other turbo need to chg exhaust flange.

any suggestion shop to do piping? Bajet around 1.5k incl i/c. Can get uhhh?

Hi Ipin, few things to take note:

Stock TD04 turbo outlet face upwards, U will need to do some custom piping to join a FMIC, which mostly has the inlet & outlet at the sides & located lower.

There are 2 version of TD05 turbos available, EVO 123 & EVO 456789. Not sure about the older ones, but the newer version TD05 are twin scroll (2 entry type), will not bold-on to your stock exhaust manifold.

It's a personal preference, changing to FMIC alone will help prevent detonation & maintain the boost responsiveness.

Changing to a more efficient turbo will be even better, but there'll be a increase in lag, expect boost to delay 500-1000rpm depending on which TD05 U choose & overall setup.

guys, i bought a stock evo 9 intercooler pipes. so, what are the things i need to mod or cut? do i need to bought extra samco hose? thnks

Front bumper needs to be removed. Mount the intercooler and cut some frame off to allow the pipes to go thru. It's not really that plug and play. Why not get Ah Wah to install for u.

i see how.. u know ah wah's place is like so far from my area.. i thought that i just wanna install it near my place.. but i see how it goes.. anyone know what to mod?

just need 2 samco hoses & fabricate a bracket to hold your intercooler that's about it....

oh yeah i gonna need that when i get my hands on my intercooler. just that the stock evo pipes is not PNP on airtrek, so thats why i need to know if there's any pipes i need to cut so im gonna need extra samco hoses.. im gonna install it with my stock turbo as well.. dont have budget for TD05 yet..

Airtrek original is not TD-05?

TD04 will need more bents in terms of piping + hoses as the outlet from the turbo faces upwards. TD05 is simpler in that sense.

Remember when you mount the pipes and hoses, please protect them from rubbing against any surfaces. Else it will either make noise or damage the pipings in long run. Good luck bro and keep us updated with pictures!

thanks man.. be sure to take that as note.. i'm planning to turn the turbo outlet to downside so i when i change to TD05 it wont have any pipe to throw.. if that so i have to mod the mounting bracket for actuator valve.. i'll sure update it here..
