Engine Problems ? HELP!

Hi guys,

I need help with my FD. Got this wierd problem. On cruising and occasional flooring the car is fine. But when i go drag racing, the 1st 4 gears are fine, but when i upshift to 5th the rpm can't climb. It starts to sputter. And when the car comes to a stop after that the engine stalls. I have a hard time starting it after that. Got to wait for a few minutes before she can crank up again. But I can push start the car.

I am running a microtech and T04R. dyno run is fine with A/F ratios of 11+ after 5000rpm so i don't think is a tuning problem. Seems like a flooding issue to me but i checked the plugs and they were fine. Anyway one have any suggestions?

P.S: KC WHERE ARE YOU! I NEED YOUR HELP!
 
you've been running the samte setup for a while now yes? i'd look at spark plugs and leaning out a little at top end.kc's outta town. be back sometime next week.
 
is it ur apex seal???
hard to crank up might be the apex seal..just my 1 cent...
 
been running this setup for about a year now. according to my dyno chart the a/f are just nice. afraid if I lean it out the engine might go kaboom! Don't think it is running too rich cause there is no black smoke when i pull the car. I am using stock FD plugs now but running on 4 "9"s. I tried the car again last night. This problem only seems to happen when I launch from 1st gear? If I am cruising and start flooring from 3rd gear I do not have this problem? Could it be I am not getting enough fuel? I am using 4 850cc injectors with an upgraded fuel pump and fuel regulator.
 
You're running 850 for primaries? Do you not get any idleing problems? When was the last time you replaced your spark plugs? How much boost are you running? Have replaced your grounding wires from your engine to chassis?
 
So far no idling problems, just running a bit rich. i changed my plugs about a month back. running 1bar low boost and 1.2bar high boost. Have not done the grounding wires.
 
weird. dont think its got to do with grounding but hey its a cheap reliabilty mod for a few bucks. if i remember correctly, you also run water injection. you're not hitting fuel cut, all gears are good cept 5th. Have you looked under the bonnet yet? could be a popped hose on fpr?
 
lol, didn't think it would be grounding (only a fix for 3800rpm hesitation) but hey, it's cheap :tongue:

Sounds like your secondary turbo doesn't like 5th? Don't suppose you've checked your vac hoses. Or maybe it's something to do with your wastegate? Tried an EBC?

Maybe the guys at rx7club.com can help you? This is kindof a weird problem eh, I remember someone on the rx7club forum posted something like this, but there was never a solution :frown: Sorry, I suppose I'm not much help with FD's :frown:

There might be a solution by now? :s:

edit: Wait, are you single or stock twin? sequential or non?

he is running single to4r mate. i would be hard pressed to call out the problem. i would definitely say fuelling. i'd change out the spark plugs, fuel filter and check fuel pressure.

omg i feel dumb now. I should really learn to read properly, as he stated so clearly from the beginning it was a TO4R. I haven't been to sleep in 30 hours, sorry dude :vollkomme
