We love automotive designers. They truly allow their thoughts and ideas to run wild and are free of all marketing and sales leashes that dictate everything from a how a vehicle should look like, to which market segment it caters for, and to some extent the power figures and such. Independent designers don't have that crap around their necks, just take a look at this old-school Audi Gentleman's Racer hot rod.

Of course the rodder is not exactly a classic, in fact it's totally new school with some gorgeous classic lines and ideas. Created by industrial designer Mikael Lugnegård of Sweden, this piece of art was done to commemorate American automotive history with a touch of Germany; Audi to be exact. The initial outlook may have nothing Audi about it, but the grille is actually Audi, adapted for the unique look of this rendering.

According to our source, the concept will feature an aluminum space frame, Ohlins suspension, and Brembo brakes all under a ultra lightweight carbon fiber body. Power would preferably be generated by an Audi owned Gallardo sourced V10, but instead of channeling it to all fours, the power will only be channeled to the rear. How wicked is that?

Speaking of his design, Lugnegård says: "The intended market is basically a pro racer who wants something classy for his personal trackday, as well as for driving to the new, exclusive restaurant down town with his lady. I could really imagine seeing someone like Samuel Hubinette in this car!"
