According to one the the forum here for D15b engine the word VTEC will not be written on the cover

hi bandit,... you're rite!! for EK D15B model no VTEC written on cam cover, but you can find out there's 2 solenoid valve that control valve below the distributor coil... i used to drive this car for 3 years and it's a fun and nice car to drive... i would say the fuel consumption is very..very.. good when your toggle switch at E or D,... performance wise... no doubt easily can eat other 1600 class.. tested with my fren drove eg9 (mods n strait flow zos) can run side by side and the best thing his already at 180km/h (tak bleh blah lagi) but mine stil can tekan minyak lagi...i use sport (S) mode..... that is the miracle of single cam v-tec that some people not realized.... my car setup is stock!!! believe it or not...but i experienced myself.....

thanks zim but can u tell me more bout tht car cause a few of my friend ask me not to buy recond car and is it true that recond D15B comes with a non vtec as well?

most EG's wth big V (4,6) and EK (3,9) all recond??? the onli problem for this JDM specs car sometimes thermostat 'kacau' due to differ weather and this is normal....sini panas mehh... I oso kena skali... onli last 2 year (2003) my thermostat 'kong' and a/c cooling coil 'kaput'...and i think this is normal when ur car 6 years old the maintenance will start.... my EK3 is multimatic g/box

It is true for EK D15B there are two JDM variants that didnt comes with VTEC which is MI and ML. Vi is a sohc vtec version.

RM43K is a good price, provided the car is in good shape. if you got extra money later, dump in at least B16A.

cheers!

EK3's D15B vtec won;t have the vtec word on top...how u can differentiate is look at the solenoid. This is what my friend told me, he own a EK3 3-stage multimatic, he bought for 45k which is a steal! it's hard to find any EK3 with that price and some more is vtec. 43k w/o vtec is actually priced quite high already. JMO

Hi Bandit,

The EK3 SOHC VTEC doesn't have the VTEC word on the engine cam cover. You can tell whether its a VTEC by locating its solenoid, as described by some members in previous replies. For EK3, there's 2 solenoids which look like this :

I think 43k for a EK3 is damn cheap as the market price for a 96 is >50k with some people selling it close to 60k, depending on which year the car is registered in Malaysia. Evaluate the car carefully if you are serious about buying it ... since the price is so low. :)
