Message: <blockquote data-quote="[PIMPIN]" data-source="post: 3271620" data-attributes="member: 2994">When you ask how much it costs to maintain a Skyline and what it takes to mod one, well I can only ask “How long is a piece of string?” My mechanic when I was in Perth a few years ago, Ant (Anthony Scali) owned the R32GTR with the plates ND4SPD (featured in Hypertune ages ago) had 899hp and he used $4 plugs just to prove that it’ll work just as well as expensive HKS ones. Some people can keep the car stock forever and maintenance would probably cost them slightly more than what an average car would. Some are more extreme and I’m not so sure if I’m yet to fall into this category but I think I’m getting there unfortunately. I bought my 34GTR about 18 months ago and it came from Japan with 17,000kms and numerous modifications: Power-FC, Apexi N1 suspension, Apexi turbos, Kakimoto exhaust, ORC clutch, Apexi air filters, etc. Basically the car was complete without anything left to spend. However, I’m a ‘built not bought’ guy so I replaced every single thing on the car with the exception of the carbon fibre GT wing (not sure what brand it is) and the TE37s cause they were the forged magnesium ones.  So fast forward to today and I’ve managed to fool myself into the doing the following: AUDIO SYSTEM (Audio system custom install ran close to RM30k) Alarm system (approx. I guess I’m nearly there. Currently running in the new engine and once I’ve gotten about 3,000kms on it I’m putting in a Motec M800, Motec SDL, HKS triple plate, twin external Bosch 044 fuel pumps with surge tank (bye bye audio) and twin HKS GT2835s. Sometimes I feel like selling it but when I look back at all receipts it’s best to just keep it cause I’ll lose so much given current market. Do I regret it? Absolutely not!
