airtrek engine replacement to evo 5 engine

most of us has plans to sell our car but in the end...we keep modifying it to get more horsey:banghead::banghead::banghead:

there are tonnes of airtrek at used car trying to sell.. most of it sold bcos of stock untouched look.. buyers has this mentality of "if car's modded sure drive hard before"..

hahah... to me, stock or modded it is still fine as long as we know the previous owner care of the car.. but heavily mod i also not dare.. cause when something happen, parts are hard to find..

Transfer done... Tuning now.

our stock turbo is design for quick response even in stock engine setup. so now u r converting stock airtrek camshaft, intake etc into evo engine complete makes it respond more quicker thus torque is also increase significantly. but there's downside of it where the turbo is out of breath after rpm reach 5000-5500.

From the intercooler pipe direction inlet, you're not using stock td04 turbo. Are u using td05?

Stock 04 has turbo outlet facing upward towards top mount intercooler. This is different.

A good healthy TD04 engine with proper mods and nice tuning car get u to almost 240whp. But that's kinda rare. Most TD04 is around 200-220whp.

When I look properly at yr picture, I noticed:

- It's aftermarket manifold/banana
- Has external wastegate
- Uses 'tulang ikan' boost controller
- Aluminium radiator
- Has adjustable fuel regulator

Most probably it already has TD05 too. The previous owner has already done some mods to it. Maybe just the intercooler left to be done, then yours is quite good for 240whp.

TMIC is really bad for hot days traffic jam situation. Yes, setting boost too high will result in knocking.

my friend had declined that the changed the td04 yet, but all the above mention mod are correct. I am going to the workshop tomorrow. will take extra picture to confirm.

ur engine soooo clean... no speckle of dust :congrats:

Well it's possible still td04 if he used a different outlet pipe for his turbo.

Hahaha I try to keep it clean. I'm a picky person. Hahahaa.

guys, i can confirm that that is still stock TD04 as the intake hose is still original 2 piece hose.. once change to TD05 only need 90deg elbow samco hose connect to turbo inlet. since he already uses custom manifold + wastegate, the old owner turn the turbo downward so can easily make pipes for FMIC i guess..

I agree very much with your observation. I've forgotten about the external wastegate. the intercooler pipe must make way for the wastegate hence diverting to a different direction. GOOD OBSERVATION!!!
