Ah! what tyre size? Tried looking at GT Radial yet? But HPY model from 17" upwards.....

195/55/15

yeah i read ur comment about those tires...but dropped it once i found out about the size heheheh

but im really interested in the KU36... feedbacks are good plus the 205/50 and stiff side wall will give decent amount of traction for corners

Ah! Ecsta XS KU36 is extreme dry tyre, good for track, some more asymmetric pattern for better cornering. 205/50 will be good upgrade from 195/55, wider contact point, bigger footprint.....:driver:

Bad for wet?

i have friends who use the KU36 for their daily n track...

they say wet weather is fine....besides... i dont drive fast in the wet anyway... so should be ok for me la.

ATR Sports in the wet ada ok ka?

KU36 aquaplaning resistance maybe not too good. 2 straight line only.

ATR Sports directional and big grooves may be better, however traction may not be too good.

Some reading for you....

Bro, would you say the threads are not so aggresive anymore compare to ATR 1? looking at the deep grooves - should be good hydro planning - not sure whether is it ok to combo with ATR Sport 1 at the rear tho...

Yup, the straight line grooves are wider, aquaplane resistance should improve. Hopefully compound change and improved too.
ATR 1 block pattern, therefore ATR 2 should be quieter.....

If ATR2 have better grip should be placed at the rears.....

Hmmm,,still duno what compound they added or do they even bother improve it...becos afterall its a budget brand...yeah..do notice that this should logically be quieter...but also note that there are many..how to say... 'flat surface' - seems grip could be compromise, that's y i said its not as aggressive the pattern compare to ATR 1....

Guys, Achilles ATR Sports is a god send for bigger rim size tyres. How I wished that they make Achilles 123 for my car which is using 18" rims so that it won't hurt my wallet when I take it for Sepang track days.

Those using bigger than 17" rims will know the pain in the wallet when it is time to change tyres.

I am currently using the Achilles ATR Sports 1, and I can tell u that the threadwear rating of 400 is REAL... yup..had whacked it for more than a year with one Sepang track session..still look like new.

However, the bad side is you cannot whack corners in the rain or after the rain where the surface is wet.

The funny thing about this Achilles ATR Sports 1, is that as the layer wears down, it becomes grippier.

I am excited to know that they have made improvements to Achilles ATR Sports 2...maybe make it better in the wet.

I heard famous D1 Drifters are using Achilles tyres too.

Bro., the more flat surface the better the grip. Grip is from surface contact, rubber compound and road surface. (Look at F1 flat surface tyre for dry) The more the grooves the better wet handling. Grooves are just to channel water away so that it does not aquaplane. As long as no aquaplane the rubber is still in contact with the road surface you will still have grip.(Look at F1 Wet weather tyres)
You know why the tyres have a continuous pattern line in the center. Accordingly to their tech, constant contact with the road surface for steering response.

Most tyres are like that, that is why they need to scrub down new tyres for full grip to take effect.
The more they wear actually the more the contact surface.
Some racers even cut away 30% of top layer for races.
Another reason is thread pattern is 8mm thick, the thicker they are, the softer the tyre, so cutting it down to 5mm thick gives a more solid feel.....

Make perfect sense, thanks for pointing out..and thnks Bro INitialD for highlighting the tyre's characteristics...at least now will not whack corner during rain...

Now i am curious bout this ATR 2....and my rear set is almost time up....hmmmm

Just wondering if that's the case, a lot have been saying not to drive with tyres that almost botak...so, in this term of less
thread left = more grip doesnt seems to really click with each other? :hmmmm:

Because it is general saying for our daily ride and use. Using almost bald tyres still good for dry use, but for our weather you do not know when the rain will come, and that is the issue they are referring to, for almost bald tyres.
As you have read some members comment on their extreme tyres that they use for track use, sort of semi slick pattern, they do not perform well in the wet. Quite similar to almost bald tyres.
At least for F1, you can come in and change to rain tyres, probably you can keep another set of rain tyres at home, so when rain comes, you change to those tyres.....hahahahaha:rofl:

Hmm...get what u mean now
Would take me an hour to manually change all 4 tyres
