Hi friends,
My ride is a Accord SV4 1996, automatic. For the past few weeks i ve been having some fuel issues with my car. What happens is when my fuel indicator sits in between the lowest and 3rd quarter section and i leave my car over night, i'll have problems starting up the car next day. It starts and then immediately dies off. I have to top up some fuel and then only it starts to run. Some say that u should leave the fuel low and thats the problem. I disagree coz i have left the car over night and could still start it the next day with the fuel indicator light on.

Have changed my fuel float, fuel pump and was recently told that there is a dent in my fuel pump thats could be causing this problem. Anyone else experienced this before and could it be anything else? Please do let me know. Thanks.

since u say you have to "top up" to start the car, then your fuel pressure is low. the fuel pump is weak or something. check also your fuel line(clogged) and fuel filter at the same time.

ask the mechanic to tap the fuel pressure and see what its like during starting (load) and also idle.

Thanks for the response J101..Sorry let me re-phrase my sentence..I have changed my fuel pump, fuel filter, they told me there is a dent in my fuel tank..Can that cause this problem? How can i check the fuel line and fuel pressure?

the dent wouldnt effect much, actually it will RISE up the fuel level since there is a dent. squeeze a water bottle and u get the idea.

they will have a hose+gauge toy for them to tap after the fuel filter. get the readings from there. what fuel pump are you using by the way?
