But this is a tale of how a VIP ducked behind a woman as paparazzi’s cameras clicked away-and helped make her a household face.
Today, Coco is known not only as the Chinese social escort photographed on july 5 with Hongkong’s then broadcasting chief Chu Pui Hing, who has since resigned over the scandal.
She is also one hot blogger.
Last week, her website, with its collection of va-va-voom snapshots of herself in itsy-bitsy clothes, big wigs and her Louis Vuitton bags, drew more that 200,000 visits.
Not bad for a blog which the Sichuan native, who says she is 20, has not updated since Jan.
Apart from ogling, some netizens may have also read her musings on relationships, her posts include ‘so things women should never do and men don’t put up with” and ‘When he doesn’t love you.”
She writes, for example: “Don’t buy this line, “you love me so you should know what I’m thinking”. This is complete nonsense. Nobody can completely know what the other party is thinking.”
Elsewhere, she comes across less brisk, more philosophical.
“Any choice one makes cannot lead to a happy ending. To choose elegant hing heels is to give up comfortable low heels, for example: “
When a cigarette falls in love with a match.. it is doomed to injury.”
And in a line that has been played up by the HongKong press, she writes; “There is no such thing as a faithful man. If he is faithful, it is because he doesn’t have enough bargaining chips to cheat.”

The 59 years old, who is married with 2 children and was director of broadcasting at Radio Television Hong Kong, had to resign after his night out with her hit the headlines.
In interviews with magazine Eastweek, Coco, who did not reveal her birth name beyond her surname, Liu, said she had worked in Hong Kong for years.
She had used the name Yumiko – which is also her blogging nickname – but changed her moniker because of her likeness to Chinese American singer Coco Lee.
The escort said she had learnt to dance on tables in Australia and that her hot moves made her a hit with high-society men in Hong Hong. She also admitted having had cosmetic surgery done.
On that fateful evening, her mamas an mimi called her and assigned her to a job at a club in Causeway Bay called Mustkara.
There, Coco met Mr. Chu, who was with a male friend and four women, and offered to perform a striptease for HK$3,000(S$579.50). She danced for him while wearing a brown wig and little else, she said.
Later, they left the building arm in arm to go to her place, she claimed. That was when reporters who had been covering singer Kenny Bee’s show nearby spotted them.
The next day, pictures of Mr. Chu crouching behind Coco with her wig in his hand were plastered all over the front pages.
She told Easweek: “I didn’t know Mr. Chu was crouching behind me. I only saw how awful he looked when I read the papers later.”
But she called him a sweet man.
“I asked him to help take care of the wig. But he didn’t drop it when he was being photogaphed, what a silly pig. Only when we got to a restaurant did he return it to me politely.”
After the scandal broke, she went home to China. But she hasn’t kissed her Hong Kong Dream goodbye. She told Eastweek that she would make a comeback as a successful mamasan.
“it isn’t the working girls who make the most money, it’s the mamasans, who can make forty, fifty thousand dollars. No, I’ll be back in Hong Kong when the coast is clear and my plan is to be Hong Kong’s most popular mamasan.”
