SLS AMG gets the Middle East treatment for charity

Once the trademark of an exotic that calls the Middle East home, the full-out, retina-shearing practice of chroming a car is now being done under the banner of charity, which does little to ease the pain on our eyes, especially considering the vehicle in particular that had to undergo this debasement.

Not only is it a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG but it’s the to-die-for GT3 racing version that has been given the faux-chrome treatment by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, an organization that uses sports and athletics as a remedy for youth issues. The foundation is backed by a number of global giants among them the boys from Stuttgart.

The mirror finish is accented by red streaks and is also used on a DTM C-Class touring car, possibly to blind the other drivers into overcooking it and making acquaintances with the wall.

The German Grand Prix that was held a few weeks back saw the car gleaming like a beacon of all things not to be done to a car. Once again though, if it’ll make you feel any better, it’s all in the name of charity and a good cause.
