Tinted headlights - does it work?

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

A pair of original H/lamp at least in gd shape for few yrs, if yours h/lamp is selling cheap then just replace it like Viva & Myvi, espesially like myvi icon, come with projector only selling around 4xx-5xx

Dont go for the cheap tint that always worst than never tint, always burn at the top side that get direct UV ray under the hot sun.A nd gv u trouble when u want to remove it.

A good tint is RM200/pair and it really did the job very well, after 2-3 yrs with HID 3" projector totally looks like the 1st day tinted.

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

Yours cannot?

not that i know off..... uk fellas remove it completely then add a glass cover over the bulb but nothing over the projector... might work there, i think its probably a bad bad bad idea here

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

If comes sealed, mod or change cover, not done properly water goes in will be bad.....lol

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

Ok thanks guys. So, i will decide not to tint it (my viva). The only thing i can do is, less travel at night. If i want to travel at night, use my satria (glass headlight)... hahaha :driver:

Actually should travel less during the day, because sunlight damages the plastic headlamps too....lol

Actually it's the hot sun that damages the plastic lens, not so much because of the light bulbs! The one that really makes headlights hazy & murky is mostly if you often park outside baking in the sun.

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

headlamp lens is plastic based.

tried both tinted(rm120) and some sort of wax/coating(rm130) method.. didnt last long..

Gonna get me new headlamp and replace lens instead. Retrofited HID on my current headlamp.

Pict below shows after a year using wax/coating and car is parked under the sun.

Really? Ok noted then. Besides less night driving, also park under the shade whenever possible. Thanks!

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

vr2turbo : You know - I had this plan to want to go start a business cleaning headlights. I'd put a promo pamphlet on any car I come across with a fogged up headlight. Charge RM50 to do only and be a mobile business.

What do you think? Wanna JV? hehe

Re: Tinted headlights - is it works?

Would like to ask who have experience doing this. Is it really works in preventing the headlight from become blurry/haze like.. I duno how to describe but i think you guys know what i mean).

applying clear film on the headlights would help prevent stone chips for sure, but it is not a permanent solution. Regular films from the sticker shops will only last briefly, depending how you drive. Thicker, purpose build films would be a wiser choice.

We are on preventing the headlamps from turning yellow/blur....:driver:

Definitely have to avoid parking the car under the sun then

I really think the more the headlights are exposed to chemicals such as, certain wash shampoo, wax the faster its clarity / colour degrade

also, the moment this outer lens has been tempered by means of polishing, it too will head downhill from there and would require more regular polishing

Thinking of it, could it be the heat from the headlamps, because the rear lamps clear plastic do not change color........:smokin:

so.... the only conclusion i have drawn is, we need headlight covers...... and dont drive the car at night....

good point, although the taillights doesn't face the sun as much as the fronts

but with today's HID / LED headlights, it's not so common anymore, although they're likely much newer.
