Oil pressure problem

My 4AGZE having some abnormal problem on oil pressure.

once the engine start, the pressure seem below than center line. Once moving or running, the pressure seem back to normal stage.

But when run on traffic jam condition and the engine was a bit hot. Once the car going to idle for about 1 min, the pressure drop dramatically and about 1/4 of gauge only.

The engine oil level and condition was aways monitored on morning (never drop too), and didn't seem any leak too.

Note: The measurement is base on speedometer gauge and my car was running with a oil cooler, relocate and turbo charges.
 
when the car is idle, perhaps you can open your oil cap and put your palm on it to feel the pressure. basically you can feel the air is pumping out and there will be some oil on your hand as well. what about your oil check light? if the pressure really low, is better you get your mechanic to check asap to pretend further damage.

I didn't found the oil check light on. My mechanic also not sure the issue.

i seriously do not understand what u r trying to convey sir, it doesnt make any sense imo except "to get ur mech to check asap.."

the suction u feel at the oil filler cap opening is vacuum and crankcase pressure, it has lil, if any, effect on the lubrication system pressure imo
 
turbo got leak ? oil press meter leak?

Nope, at turbo and block checked no leak, beside I didn't install the oil press meter yet.

Now I narrow down into 3 section:
1. Does because of the Oil cooler size too big? Because currently was using 15 rows HKS cooler, even tap the oil from there to turbo itself too.
2. Does the oil pump itself going weak?
3. OEM Meter or sensor error.
 
no. 2 and 3 are most likely sir

it shud drop the reading for no.1 but shudnt be dependant on temperature imo
 
maybe need to change to individual meter & observe from that meter.
i also confuse when see meter reading at ae92 long meter compare my oil pressure..the way it run/read quite diffreant.
 
alright... should be the time to install Oil press meter, but what is the normal reading if in idle mode? and running mode?

morning - engine cold..first start the needle can up until 4.6 - 4.8 x100kpa (Pivot gauge) then after few minute the pressure start going down until 2.0 - 2.2 kpa

when high rev..it recorded 5.2-5.3 kpa.
after long high rev when stop (idling..sometime the pressure can drop 1.8-1.6 kpa..it depend you on or off aircond..

based on what i'm understand..if the oil in high temperature can drop until that 1.8-1.6kpa..then later back to normal pressure 2.0-2.2 kpa...

p/s:- this reading based on pivot gauge & it also depand on oil engine if i not mistake..

Thanks on your information, I just grab Omori Oil Pressure... Dunno the reading is same or not..

sorry ah taiko :biggrin:. still budak baru belajar. i thought this way can test the oil pump pressure. meaning there is no way to know the pressure unless u have oil press meter?
 
colder engine oil = higher oil pressure gauge reading
hotter engine oil = lower...

some ppl said install oil cooler will cause the pressure to drop because of the 'extra' line/path the oil has to travel. from wat i interpret myself (using both oil temp n pressure gauge), i've gained 0.1-0.2 bar of pressure after installing oil cooler.

makes sense right since cooler gives u more pressure?

maybe u guys have other ways to put it into words.... the above is just my layman's term of explanation.
 
i think it depends on the oil jugek, sum oil maintain higher pressure in the lubricating system then the others. as long as there pressure builds up sufficiently when revved up, its all good imo. i will start to worry when the oil pressure indicator in the dash starts to show up in operation

no problem sir, u need an oil pressure meter installed in a proper place, to get an accurate reading. preferably around the engine's head area
