The Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas might not be the type of expo that we usually pay attention to, but a creation from Rinspeed had definitely caught our attention. This is because Rinspeed will be giving a public debut of their latest Etos concept which basically is an autonomous i8 with some styling upgrades.
The Etos features a unique exterior equipped with custom body panels, new fascias as well as a glass roof. The concept is also given 20-inch Borbet GTX aluminium wheels, but what caught our attention is the bespoke drone landing platform that consists of 12,000 individually controlled LEDs which can also be used as an electronic message board.
The drone in mention here is a DJI quadcopter that can be dispatched to pick up deliveries or sent above the car to livestream your trip.
Over to the inside, Rinspeed has given the Etos a new interior by stripping the i8’s inside and replacing it with a unique dashboard, two curved 21.5-inch Ultra HD widescreen monitors, and a retracting steering wheels that ‘disappears’ into the dash when the car goes into autonomous mode.
Aside from the titanium pedals, ceramic accents, the seats are given a unique touch of embroidery of the San Francisco’s skyline. It also features a mechanical Patravi Traveltec clock from Carl F. Butcherer, and a hi-tech Harman infotainment system. The concept is fitted with eight high-definition cameras to monitor the car’s surroundings, and it also has a gaze-tracking system that permanently monitors the driver’s eye movements.
