Starting its life as a concept, the Infiniti Q60 Coupe Concept was forgotten by many as it has been a year since we last heard about it. But this Q60 has made a comeback at Detroit one year later and what excites us the most is that Infiniti has dropped the ‘concept’ moniker, unveiling the production guise of their new Coupe.
Dubbed as the 4-Series fighter, the Q60 Coupe comes with a stylish design, featuring the new signature grille and the LED headlights with the Light Guide technology that mimic the shape of the human eyelid and a sloping roofline.
Infiniti has managed to achieve a drag coefficient of 0.28, thanks to the sleeker body with vents in the front fenders that directs air out of the engine bay. The hood was shaped to further reduce drag and the V6 model comes with what is called the Active Grille Shutter that remains closed in normal use and opens up during dynamic driving.
The Q60 Coupe will be offered with three engine options with the most powerful being a newly developed biturbo 3.0-liter engine producing 400-horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The other version is powered by the same engine, but has only 300-horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque from 1,600rpm. The last one is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has 208-horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
All the engines are paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission that sends the power to the rear wheels, and an optional rear-biased all-wheel drive system is also being available. Those opting for the biturbo V6 will get the direct adaptive steering with six driving modes: Standard, Snow, Eco, Sport, Sport+, and Customize.
Infiniti also offers two suspension systems to pic from, with the standard offering a low level of noise and vibrations, while the Dynamic Digital Suspension offers “best-in-class handling responses and agility, and enhanced ride comfort”.
