Throughout last year and early 2015, the details of the new Porsche 991 GT3 RS were slowly laid down, giving us hints of how this lightweight Porkie is going to be. But finally the pieces of the puzzle are brought down together and now the new GT3 RS is here for the world to admire.

Like how we mentioned in the earlier post, the naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat six engine produces 500-horsepower and 460Nm (338 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is mated to a seven speed PDK transmission that allows the GT3 RS to do a zerotohundred in just 3.3 seconds and a 0-200 in 10.9 seconds.

Porsche also managed to shave off 10kg from the GT3 through the usage of lightweight materials like a magnesium roof panel which lowers the centre of gravity. The engine and luggage compartments are also being lightened by making them out of carbon fiber. With a bodyshell derived from the 991 Turbo, it is fitted with GT3 RS specific components such as the front spoiler lip, large rear wing and the front wheel arch air vents.

Now with wider tracks on the front and rear, the GT3 RS gets a bigger advantage of the rear-axle steering first appeared on the GT3. The Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with fully variable limited slip differential further improves the handling characteristics of the car.

The seats are made out of carbon fiber, which is based on the ones in the 918 Spyder and the interior is bathed in Alcantara. The Club Sport Package comes as standard, featuring a bolted-in roll cage behind the front seats, a fire extinguisher with a mounting bracket and a six-point harness for the driver.

Included in the Sports Chrono Package is the new Porsche Track Precision app which utilizes GPS to measure lap times, providing additional data like vehicle speed, lateral acceleration and the acceleration and deceleration in driving direction.

The new Porsche 991 GT3 RS is now available in Europe with a price tag of £131,296 (RM 730,532).
