The 950BHP Ferrari LaFerrari laps the Top Gear Test Track in 1:14.2!

Featuring 789bhp from the 6.3-liter V12 engine and an extra 161bhp from the Kinetic Energy Reserve System (KERS), the combined output of 950bhp puts the Ferrari LaFerrari in a whole different level of hybrid supercars. And while James May of Top Gear did had a go in this amazing machine, it was just too bad that they did not managed to proceed in getting the Enzo successor going head-to-head against McLaren’s P1 and Porsche’s 918, or even around the Top Gear Test Track.

Luckily though we are able to see the latter happening as someone had recently brought down a LaFerrari down to the Dunsfold Aerodrome for a run around the 2.8-km ‘circuit’. And while this is already very interesting, what surprises us even more is that the particular LaFerrari is actually owned by the recently-confirmed Top Gear presenter, Chris Evans.

Handing over the keys of the hybrid beast to racing driver Jason Plato, they had access on the track for 15 minutes, which probably is more than enough to showcase what the LaFerrari can actually do. In the end of the session, Plato was able to clock a best time of 1:14.2, which unfortunately is not the fastest time there is as it is slower than the Pagani Huayra’s 1:13.8.

Then again, Plato pointed out that the condition of the track were damp, whereas the Huayra ran on a completely dry surface. And not to forget, the Huayra was piloted by the talented paws of The Stig, which is definitely one of the main key points in ensuring a fair comparison point.
