The Volkswagen Passat is not really the first car that one would relate to being sporty, let alone being the primary choice in going sideways. But Tanner Foust is ready to make a comeback into the Formula D scene and the chariot he will be sliding in is a genuine drift monster. Packed with 900-horsepower, this is his new VW Passat drift machine.

Of course, they did not get that much power from the car’s 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, or even the 3.6-liter VR6 for that matter. Residing in the engine bay is now a massive 450-cubic-inch V8 power plant which has been tuned to produce a massive 700-horsepower!

So where does the extra 200 horses come from? None other than the nitrous-oxide of course. The power is then sent to obliterate the rear Nitto NT05 sticky tires via a four-speed G-Force GSR transmission.

As for the exterior, the builders have not really gone all out to give it a wild look. With an APR Performance wing sitting on the rear, the overfenders nicely house the five-spoke KMC wheels and the car has been finished with a yellow and black Rockstar Energy Drink graphics.

This overcharged Passat will be making its maiden appearance in Formula D when the season kicks off in Long Beach on April 10.
