James Glickenhaus is not only known as an avid car collector as he takes his passion towards automobiles to a different level. And with an idea of creating a street car which can also double up as a podium-grabbing race car, the SCG 003 has been garnering attention from petrolheads all over including us.
The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) has been teased a number of times, but the car is slowly taking shape and revealing more of its radical looks. It is not much of a surprise that the SCG 003 looks very similar to a Le Mans Prototype as he wishes to take part in the gruelling endurance race.
In street form, SCG will offer buyers a range of engines that goes all the way to a twin-turbocharged V12. But power is not an area where SCG focuses as their forte are lightweight construction and aerodynamic efficiency. In racing spec, the 003 will feature SCG’s own engine design, based loosely on the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 built by Honda’s HPD Motorsport.
Of course for all these, it will not come with a relatively ‘affordable’ price tag. Glickenhaus previously quoted the 003 starts at 2.1 million Euros (RM 8.98 million) for the road version, while the racing version will add about 750,000 to 1 million Euros (RM 3.2 – 4.28 million).
