Setting its sight towards cars like the Ford Fiesta and the Volkswagen Polo, Mazda had recently taken the covers off their new Mazda2. Keeping the Demio nametag for the domestic market, the Mazda2 is set to arrive to global markets somewhere in the final quarter of the year.
The Mazda2’s design is strongly based on the Hazumi concept which was put on display at the Geneva Motor Show back in March. The same ‘Kodo’ design language could be found on the Mazda3 compact and the Mazda6 mid-size models as well.
For the new Mazda2, one could opt from the three engine options offered. It has the SKYACTIV-G 1.3-liter with 99-horsepower, a larger 1.5-liter, and a SKYACTIV-D 1.5-liter diesel engine with 104-horsepower; all available in either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
For the time being, Mazda is still keeping tight-lipped on the deeper details of the Mazda2, but we will bring you the updates once they have surfaced.
