Like the Asterion? Too bad that Lamborghini will not put it into production

The Lamborghini Asterion is nothing like any other concept cars we have seen from the brand. It is not only on the styling where it lacks the shock and awe like all Lamborghinis have, the powertrain is also where the Asterion stands out from the others. Paired to a set on electric motors, this makes the Asterion the first hybrid Lamborghini ever made; which is also the reason why it will never reach the production lines.

Of course, we are more than aware that one of Lamborghini’s vision is to always move forward, which is why they did not give a go-ahead to the gorgeous and refreshed Miura concept. With that being said, going the hybrid route seems to be the most sensible way for Lamborghini to move into the future, but their CEO Stephan Winkelmann begs to differ.

The Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 plug-in hybrid will only remain as a concept and serve as a “technological demonstrator”. “Its not meant to go on the race track. The acceleration is good and the top speed, but in handling it would be out-beaten by the others. Its more a hyper-cruiser,” said Winkelmann. “I strongly believe that this is not a car that will be in production and we will not do it,” he added.

However, maybe we should not totally rule out that there will be no Asterion(s) on the road in the future as a wealthy customer might just persuade Lamborghini to actually build a one-off version with the right price tag.
