At first, there was the Mercedes-AMG GT. They then proceeded to come up with the Edition 1 and the Night Package afterwards. Although we have yet to see this new performance machine to roll on our streets, Mercedes will soon unveil another version of the AMG GT; and this time it comes with the iconic ‘Black Series’ moniker.
Speaking to Evo Magazine at the launch of the AMG GT in Paris, AMG chief Tobias Moers said that “sooner or later there will be a Black Series version (of the AMG GT)”. But before this much-awaited version actually surfaces, more models based on the entry-level AMG GT will first be created. As for the time being, he has yet to confirm what variants are those, but a convertible might just be one of them.
Like the previous Black Series seen, we could expect the AMG GT Black Series to come with a new and refined body kit, new suspension and better brakes. The 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine will surely receive some upgrades to pump up its 503-horsepower output.
As a recap, the GT is the second sports car developed in-house by Mercedes-AMG after the SLS AMG. With a new 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine residing under the hood, the GT rolls with 462-horsepower while the GT S comes with 503-horsepower.
