The Ferrari 458 Speciale is an already exclusive variant of the regular 458 (As if you can call the Ferrari 458 as regular). The 458 Speciale is more powerful and considerably lighter than the standard Ferrari 458 Italia. So when Ferrari decides to chop the roof off the 458 Speciale, the end result is the 458 Speciale Spider. Actual name of the roofless 458 Speciale may not be called the 458 Speciale Spider, but for this post, we’ll just make do with that. Production units are said to be capped at just 458 units worldwide.
Other than the chopped roof, the Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider will also feature a new stripe designs and also two new rim designs. Interior will see new seats being fitted, and also two plagues to denote the 458 Speciale Spider.
The engine will be the same as the one found in the 458 Speciale, so the familiar 4.5L V8 will make a return here, and performance numbers will be identical to the coupe variant. The Ferrari 458 Speciale’s V8 produces a maximum of 605 hp at 9,000 rpm and 540 NM of torque. Numbers aside, the 458 Speciale itself sounds magnificent. The Spider variant of the 458 Speciale will likely be as fast as the coupe variant, with a zerotohundred time of 3 seconds flat and a top speed of at least 320 km/h.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider will carry on where the older Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M left off, so for the time being, the 458 Speciale Spider will be the fastest convertible Ferrari. That is, until the rumoured convertible LaFerrari makes an appearance.
Do stay tuned to Zerotohundred once the Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider lands here in Malaysia.
