Well thats just not true is it? Adenoids would come around and say – “Excuse me? Have you forgotten about the Aston Martin One-77?”. As a matter of fact, no! So the new V12 Vantage S is not the fastest Aston ever. But with its new updates from the current V12, it is set to take down at least its bigger brother, the Vanquish.
The ‘S’ is now packing 565horsepower from Aston Martin’s new AM28 6.0-litre V12 platform – similar figures to the Vanquish. The power increase is a whopping 55horses from the 510horsepower that it replaces. Although the nought-to-sixty time has been kept classified, expect it to be much faster from the bigger brother’s 4.1 seconds due to its lighter construction.
The updates doesn’t end there, as the ‘S’ gets a faster shifting gearbox – dubbed as the ‘Sportshift III’ which is set to give a more engaging drive. Aston claims that this gearbox derived from their GT3 & GT4 competition cars is to tuned to offer ‘optimum performance delivery’. At the same time, the V12 S receives other racing technological improvements too like, CNC machined combustion chambers and hollow cam shafts.
Exterior wise – the looks remain relatively similar to the V12 Vantage, adding some subtle styling cues from the CC100 Speedster concept with the likes of the grille. Aluminium vanes are replaced with carbon fibre to provide better airflow on the ‘S’ and Aston offers a 19″ ten-spoke forged wheels with the exterior graphics pack. Naturally – there is also a carbon fibre bucket seat option for the hardcore drivers.
Aston chief says that – “It is our most powerful engine in a beautifully tailored suit. Elegant, brutal and at the same time easy to control”. No doubt that Astons are just an object of beauty, and living up to their tag line of ‘Power – Beauty – Soul’, this new V12 Vantage S is set to be the ultimate production Aston to date.
