The Gumpert Lives Again!

Quite a while back, we have heard of the news that the legendary Lola had finally seized their operations even after being in the motorsports scene for such a long time. And if such could happen to an established company, it is no surprise that we will see those younger, supercar manufacturers like Gumpert to end up in the same road. But fortunately for Gumpert, they were given a second chance.

After months being declared as ‘dead’, the makers of the out-of-this-world Apollo road banshee will soon be reincarnated as a new investor had set their sights in putting Gumpert back into business. The details of this deal had yet to be disclosed for the time being, since the source of the news only came from an unnamed Gumpert employee to a Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf.

Anyhow, it is great to see such a manufacturer to get a second chance in proving that it has what it takes to survive in today’s harsh conditions. As a crash course, Gumpert is a German supercar manufacturer with their flagship/only model being the Apollo. Powered by a 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, it has 650-horsepower in its disposal which enables a 0-100 sprint in just 3.1 seconds up to a top speed of 360km/h.

With such an incredible performance, the Apollo once topped the Top Gear Power Lap Board after going around the test track at just 1:17.1, faster than the Bugatti Veyron and the Pagani Zonda.
