Last year, the guys at Motor Trend had answered the curiosity that most of us had plagued in our heads. With more and more powerful cars emerging into today’s market, the most common question encountered today is “Who will go the fastest?”, which they had put a straight forward answer to it by staging one of the most epic drag race ever.
By lining up 11 of the best cars from all continents, the Japanese had proved that their GT-R is nothing to be played around with as it obliterated its rivals, which some of them are much more powerful like the 458 Italia and the SLS AMG. But would it be able to retain its crown in this year’s “World’s Greatest Drag Race”?
In this year’s round, they had lined up 9 of the greatest contenders from around the globe which includes Lamborghini’s latest road banshee, the Aventador, and McLaren’s answer to the Italia, the MP4-12C. Joining in to prove their power numbers are not just for show is the German Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Edition, a couple of Americans like the Camaro ZL1 and the Shelby GT500, Britain’s Jaguar XKR-S, and not to forget the GT-R Black ready to put Japan into the maps again. And joining in for fun, although its power is nowhere comparable to the other contenders, is the Subaru BRZ.
So will the pure, raw horsepower triumph in this straight line race or will it again fall in the hands of the twin-turbo monsters? It is a real challenge to not spoil the outcome of this race to you guys, but this race is really worth the watch.
