If you study the design language of modern and classic Porsche’s, you would notice that the general look of the range is very much influenced by the 911. Not anymore. These latest shots suggest that the recently unveiled Panamera is leading the way in Porsche design. Well it is still too early to say as there are parts that are still fully covered like the front and rear ends but the exposed headlights suggests heavy influence from the Panamera.

New to the 2011 Cayenne are the re-designed rear lights and the third window (disguised in these shots). The Cayenne is still an SUV but judging from the pictures, it looks smaller, which could be Porsche’s response to the general trend of down-sizing.

The new Cayenne has already undergone testing in various conditions and road surfaces. It has also been taken for a run around the ‘Ring as it is after all a Porsche which basically means that people like you, I, and potential buyers do expect it to handle a certain way. The new 2011 Cayenne is believed to be lighter and more fuel efficient and could just utilise the existing turbo-diesel engine. A Cayenne Hybrid version is said to be in the works as well.

Production is set to begin in 2010 with the first customer deliveries to take place later in the year. We should see a production version at one of the upcoming major international shows soon.
