I’m here at the Sepang International Circuit where the annual 12-hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race just flagged off. Plenty of drama already with at least five cars slapped with a drive through penalty for rule infrigements and other problems. We already have one retired Aston Martin and Honda Integra DC5 and the Mosler of Thunder Asia Racing was in the lead before it too got slapped with a drive through penalty. Currently it’s chasing the Porsche of Datuk Mokhzani’s Kencana Racing Porsche 911 GT3.
But as I type this, the Mosler just took back the lead from the Porsche of Kencana Racing. Currently in the lead is the Mosler MT900R GT3 with a time of 2.07:830 and in second place is the Porsche GT3 Cup of Kencana Racing with a time of 2.08:884. Lining up third in Class O is another Porsche of LKM Racing Team of Hong Kong with a time of 2.10:937.
Leading Class A1 is the Fugazi Racing Team with Alex Yong behind the wheel of the Radical SR8 with a time of 2.11:151. Second in line in Class A1 is the Lotus 2-11 of Empire Racing Team with a time of 2.20:272 and in third place is the Porsche 911 of JPM Racing with a time of 2.22:418.
In the lead for Class A2 is the Honda FD2 of a Singaporean Racing Team with a time of 2.26:474. Coming in second is the Honda Integra #45 of JC Racing with a time of 2.26:518. Third is the Honda Civic of Tracy Sports of Japan with a time of 2.29:591.
We’re on an hour into this grueling 12-hour race and there’s plenty of action and drama to come. Watch this space in a few hours for more live updates from the Sepang International Circuit. If you’re interested to be here, entrance is free to the grand stand.
