Hardly a week ago did we present renderings of how the up-coming Audi R8 Spyder might look like and now we present to you pictures taken by spy photographers from Carpix showcasing the R8 and it’s non-Spyder form, the test car shows that the only covered area resides behind the rear seats, effectively making it a Targa.
Even so, speculations are still rife on the actual label of the car and word has it that cabriolet, convertible, spyder and targa have all been thrown out, leaving a lot of people guessing on what it will be called.
So while the label is still up for speculation, we can confirm that the 420hp 4.2 lter FSI engine found in the current R8 Coupe will make its way to the Targa or whatever it’s going to be called. But that’s not all, the test car sports some pretty fat pipes that are very similar to the V10 prototype still under development. This leads some to suggest that Audi will also offer an open-top model of the yet unreleased R8 V10.
The open top R8 will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
