Nissan To Offer Convertible Murano To US Market, Forgets Us

nissan_carscoop_muranoThe Nissan Murano has been with us for a while now and has gone through some upgrades that include both visual and technological as well as aesthetically. Whether or not we will get the same updated design is not yet known but one thing is for sure though, the Murano will be taking off its top to entertain its American customers while leaving no word of other possible markets.

When introduced, the Murano convertible will be the only other four-door convertible in the market other than the rugged Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Expected to hit the US market in 2010, Nissan insiders are saying that it will only be produced in limited numbers, which kills any chances there were of it making it to our shores.

So while retractable hardtops are still the choice among car builders, Nissan will stick to the traditional soft top. One of the reasons for doing so is the overall weight that a retractable hardtop will add to the car which could ultimately affect fuel consumption. The Murano is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine that develops 265hp and power will be channeled to all fours or the front two depending on driver choice.
