BMWs Z-Series has been with us for a while now and has seen two models carrying the Z badge. Both models have received great acclamations from enthusiasts and non alike; sealing the Zs reputation as a formidable driving instrument.
The legend is about to continue as the Bavarian automaker sees the time to be ripe now to introduce another Z-Series, this time based on the underpinnings of the 1-Series and to be called the Z2. As all other Zs, the Z2 will be a convertible but reports suggest it would likely have a folding soft top instead of a collapsible tin roof like the one used by the Z4.
Sources also hint that the Z2 would come exclusively with four-cylinder power which doesn’t come as a surprise considering demand for such models in on the rise but still, with the 1-Series Cabrio available with a twin-turbo six, a four-cylinder only Z2 could have its legs cut off before it even materializes.
