Formula 1 has always been about transferring race technology to road cars and I believe Ecclestone and Co. now have an ideal tool to transfer race technology for use by driving enthusiast. At first glance, the Racer X Design Formula RZ seems to ape formula cars of old (except for the two seater configuration of course) but look again and past the front and rear wing and all the now familiar characteristics of an ideal track machine become apparent.
The Racer X Design first emerged with the KC-427 Concept which was a modern interpretation of the legendary Cobra powered by a monstrous 6.4-liter V10 but the Formula RZ takes a different track, one that combines the attributes of the pioneering Ariel Atom, the KTM X-Bow and the K07 Spyder – a customizable body complete with removable nose cone and wing.
The removable panels configuration as well as a lightweight body structure aims at delivering a pure driving experience for a party of two. Though there is no mention of powerplants, gearboxes or curb weight, expect record shattering performance and a new ultimate track tool.
As is always the case with such jaw-dropping renderings and such astounding performance (in words at least) the Formula RZ is simply a design study for the moment but its likely it’ll remain that for some time before it sees the light of day.
