Rendering: New 2010 BMW 5-Series

9080725001mini1lThe next generation BMW 5 series is due to be released in three years. It will be unveiled in 2010 and will go on sale in most world markets in 2011. So with that happening pretty soon (three years will be here before you know it) automotive media around the world are scrambling to come up with renderings or even spy shots of how the next generation 5-series will look like.

Here’s one done by artists at worldcarfans.com. Putting together CSI and Photoshop, they created an “agile rendering of the 5 series using the concept CS as a basis. The new 5 will maintain several existing technologies that include a further improved iDrive system, FlexRay processing, electro-magnetic handbrake, HUD, and Active Steering. The new 5 will also be bigger, wider and longer than the current generation.

BMWs new seven speed double clutch M-DCT gearbox will be offered as standard. The engine line up has been confirmed and will include the 3liter twin turbo petrol, 2 liter twin turbo diesel, the hybrid and the 4.4 liter twin turbo V8. Three brand new engines will also be offered for the 5-series, one of them is a new compact super diesel making well over 700Nm!

After the new 5 is revealed, tradition requires a new M5 to be revealed as well, so 2013 is the year the next generation M5 arrives and it will be pushing 600hp. Not much is known about a car that doesn’t exist yet but there is much debate over whether it will be force-fed or remain naturally aspirated. A spokesman mentioned that BMW has not ruled out using turbocharged M cars, “as long as they keep to the traditions of what an M car stands for”.

First! :P

The rendering of the upcoming 5 series is looking great in all aspect. Refreshing front facelift. But the rears seems to be a little bit shorter which will resulting in smaller boot space perhaps?

Super Diesel with atleast 700Nm torque? that is insane. I wonder how soon the torque will push from.. Tarmac scrapper machine.

Dude the pictures available "FREE" everywhere is only artist impression. They cut morph and paste to make what THEY think of the new 5 series should look. Sure Autocars probably look better than this. But in the end the final product will not look either like both of the cars. Usually Autocars most accurate rendition only comes if they spotted a test mule. And i hate the fact that they are almost accurate everytime. They got good visual artist.

Kudos to whoever took time to vision the new 5 series. And middle finger to those who never took the time to come up with something and downplay ones efforts.
