2009 GTR To Be Slightly More Powerful – And Economical

nissanskylinegtr_abg_09The Nissan GT-R will benefit from a few engineering and cosmetic tweaks for the 2009 model year in Japan, beginning with a slight bump in performance that brings output up from 480 to 485 PS (just under five hp). Other modifications include a larger fuel tank – expanded from 71 liters to 73.8 liters – a slight increase in fuel economy (about .3 km/l), “Nissan” replacing “Brembo” on the brake calipers, a new mounting location for the front license plate and a new paint code for Storm White (changed fro QX1 to QAB).

Pricing will also increase by another 5% in 2009 and it’s expected that most of these changes will be adopted on export vehicles when the “Series II” production run begins next year.

Take out the brembo save few thousand. And while at that jerk up the price tag. So now Nissan can make money.

Anyway have anyone think that if there is a GTR halfcut would anyone buy it?

my opinion for netmatrix : vr38dett, the gearbox system is kinda different rite?.. it is like one of a kind. have to blow up our head thinking how to match it with other car's drivetrain. in other word, it will under-utilized the engine capabilities unless buy the whole package for major mod (which the price tag for gearbox only would go same as the brand new regular sedan).. my verdict is, no one will buy its halfcut for d time being. thats my 2 cents laa...pls correct me.

Well if Nissan can squeeze out 5 hp more from the VR38DETT, and make it 'slightly' more economical, why not? But what what do you guys think about the switching from 'Brembo' to 'Nissan'? Just a random thought. Lol

“Nissan” replacing “Brembo” on the brake calipers r just part of nissan rebranding exercise.
just following what porsche is doing, performance part shud always carries in-house brand.
If there really was a halfcut, I think a lot of people would be interested in the other parts like brakes, seats, steering, etc. The usual stuff. Engine would just be cannibalised for parts?

Actually i'm just playing with you guys. hahaha. I know even if you could get the GTR halfcut, there is not best way to do a perfect swap to any platform.

Biggest workmanship obstacle is the rear where you have to take the gearbox, axles, suspensions and more complex 4WD differentials to mod. And even bigger mental headache of hacking the ECU which is all linked to the cars handling.

Maybe someone can remove the whole bodypart and weld a new R34 or some other boy on the GTR chassis. Which also poses another problem. The car calculates the body weight and wheel weight to make adjustments.

Actually to make the halfcut work, you need a serious ECU hack or a new ECU.

Well many would be eyeing the lights, steering, brakes, wheels and some interior parts.
