No, this is not a sped up video, not even at 1.25 times.

This is the onboard footage of this year's fastest Pikes Peak run, where a Norma M20 RD Limited Spec-2016 driven by LeMans-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid driver, Romain Dumas reached the top of the mountain at a blistering 8:51.445!

We almost moved on from the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that had wrapped up about three weeks ago until we saw this video. What's the deal with this unbelievable footage by the way?

Consider this:

  • Dumas' lightning run this year is the second-fastest time ever in the history of the
    event
  • Dumas is the first Frenchman to win twice overall
  • Dumas is one of the only three drivers to run the course in less than 9 minutes
  • Dumas is the first ever sportsman to win LeMans and Pikes Peak, on the same year! Take that..
Judging by the pace in the video, it looks like Dumas gave zero space for errors, aside from knowing the car and the track like the back of his hands. Bet he really deserve the record.

Here's some bonus angles to see just how fast the run look from the road side.
