I plan to put the rings around my GTi front spot lights since my fog lights KO already. It's a perfect place since already got round lights in a round hole.

Thanks guys. I might need to borrow the special tools from Stanley. Actually, is there any difference between plastic rod and acrylic rod?
acrylic is a form of plastic.

The name is the chemical composition in that 'plastic'

it's the same as calling all plastics in general, plastic.
plastic has many types, such as, Polycarbonate (PC) Polypropolyene(PP) Polyethelyene (PET) acrylic, PTFE/ Teflon, etc..etc..

it's the same as calling steel, metal. Metal has so many types, aluminium, copper, brass (copper + tin) , platinum, gold, etc..etc..

so, for us being more educated in these sense, let's refer to the plastics we use by their given name.

btw, the TRADE name for acrylic is PERSPEX :) so it's the same.
just like : PTFE/Teflon, PolyCarbonate/Lexan

what special tools do i have?

acbc, i don't plan to put it inside the headlights. I plan to place it around my old spot/fog lights on my GTi. Actually.. my fog lights spoil already.. and I seldom use the fog lights as ppl told me the GTi fog lights angle is too high.... blinding other road users.

will post it up once it's done.

Stanley, I think the rod's I got from the place u recommend is softer and flexible compared to the rods used in office blinds.... which is good too..easier to mold. I plan to dip it into hot water to melt it... using the oven is too risky as we don't know what temperature to use.. will test it first...

Yeah..another name for Acrylic is Perspex.

KsGoh, I tried to use the kitchen stove fire... it melted it :(
I don't have an oven, and even if I had, I dunno how hot should I set the temperature of the oven.

So I end up using hair dryer to slowly mould it into shape.. took me more than an hour..damn tired now... In the process of moulding it, I broke the rod a few times already. But finally made it...but it's not perfectly round though...sigh

I heard somebody said can buy it for less than RM100 from some car accessories shop... maybe might just take the shortcut and buy the ready made one.

The result of using the gas stove to mould it. Completely ruin it. It cause bubbles to appear inside the rod.

Finally after over an hour of using the hair dryer and a round mug to mould it..but still not perfect.

AlanTan, like I said above, I didn't dare use an oven because:
1) I don't know what temperature to use
2) My toaster oven too small

The rod cost me RM23 or RM27 I think...got it from an art shop called Wins situated by the side of Lim Kok Wing campus in Taman Megah.

The rod is about 6 feet long.

InitialD,

to use oven... i suggest u start with a low temp 1st... c whether de rod start to get soft... if not.. adjust it higher.... until u get de right temp. (make sure u preheat de oven 1st :P )

another way is to use hot air gun.. its like a hair blower.. but with higher temp hot air....
