Back in Feb 2012, we reported the launch of the new Porsche 911 in Malaysia. Almost two months later, Porsche has debuted the Cabriolet variants of the 911 Carrera and Carrera S.

As expected, powerplants remain the same as in the Coupe equivalents – 3.4L flat-six with 350PS and a 3.8L with 400PS. As per the Coupe, PDK will come as standard. Worthy of mention is the hood mechanism; an all-new design which maintains the clean lines of the 991’s lines when the hood is stowed. It incorporates lightweight cues with use of magnesium in the hood to ensure lower weight, but with added sportiness. Less weight directly translates to lower fuel consumption, and that is always a plus in our books. All in, the 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet is significantly lighter than its predecessors.

Both the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet and 911 Carrera S Cabriolet are now available at all Porsche Centers in Malaysia. Sticker prices start from RM900,000 for the Carrera Cabriolet and RM1,000,000 for the Carrera S Cabriolet (correct at time of article), excluding registration fees, road tax, and insurance. A 4-year factory warranty and a 4-year complimentary service and maintenance package also comes as standard.

The roof is powered by a motor and stows in ~20 seconds at up to speeds of ~50km/h. Luckily, no need to stop at a flyover... heheh.
