i too seriously ponder why these people would want to do up their cars this way.
- First it looks damn bloody ugly (driver view staring at the floor)
- go down a ramp the front of the car will definitely hit the bottom
- most of these cars (actually ALL OF THEM) are all front wheel drives. FWDs
naturally understeer because the front wheel is driving and steering the car. The weight of the car is biased to the front and when under heavy cornering, the rear has a potential to lift. by jacking the car's centre of gravity up even higher = higher risk of fishtailing
- if these cars were RWDs it would make more sense (if you want to compare the styling to that of drag cars - larger rear wheels for more grip to propel the car forward).
- brakes in cars work on a balance of 70% front - 30% rear because there is more weight in front (engine is there). By jacking the rear so high, the braking ability of the rear decreases due to less grip. As all cars are when they stop, weight is transferred to the front - so less grip on the rear = more inertia forces transferred to the front = an accident waiting to happen.
I guess some people just do things without taking into consideration how things actually work or function to start with..
Other than that....these fellas running around do provide a good point of conversation for the rest of us...know?
