i plan to thermo wrap my xtractor...
i got 1 which is made of mild steel from zenden..which is same as hot bits...

and the other 1 is Fire Hill...made of stainless steel...

they say mild steel if wrap wit thermo wrap will cause it to break izit?

so i plan to thermo wrap my the other stainless steel 1 wit thermo wrap...
izit safe? since stainless steel is harder than mild steel...

any idea how much those cost?
yesterday saw at mid valley Kakimotor...they selling Fire Hill thermo rm 100
per roll...
then Aerospeed is rm 90 per roll...

so wats the diff....any other cheaper 1?

wat about ceramic coating?how much will those cost?

first off...how long is per roll...how many feet/metre?ceramic coating are darn expensive...if not mistaken links can do it for you...but your stainless steel extractor will become black wor after Ceramic'ing....huhuhu

i'm not very sure how long are they but it comes in a box/roll...
mayb muz ask those who deal wit aerospeed products...

Go for Thermotec thermal wraps.

THey are one of the best in the market.

I've seen other brand of thermal wrap that dissintegrate over time.

Thermotec cost about RM200++ for 50 feet.

50 feet is more than enough for the entire exhaust system.

rm 200 for 50feet...hey...no bad on the price...where to get em?
but my mid piping is all mild steel...so its ok to wrap em?
wont bocor?
the mid piping is wrap will giv effect ar?
as i know wrapping the xtractor so tat the enigne bay is cooler
so wat about the whole xhaust piping?

thx in advance

If your car is NA, then you have less chances of cracking your extractor.

The main purpose of thermal wrapping the exhaust system is to keep the heat in.

Exhaust gas at hi temp flows at a higher velocity than lower temp.

This in turn affects the scavenging effect during exhaust stroke of the Otto cycle.

Then Of course the secondary purpose would be to keep the engine ambience cooler

Before you wrap them up, you should make sure that your wraps are genuine good products which can withstand high temperature or else, you going to waste your time and money... beware, some products say it can stand 600/700C but that is the maximum allowable, not continuous , since the engine is going to start and drive like for like hours, so its is important to get the better one .

For stainless steel headers, you should be more careful as they tends to crack especially at the joints, so after you wrapped them up, the cracks appear and you might will get into trouble..

Any shop that do wraping for their customer.

Thinking to wrap my extrator if it is cheap.

erm..the thermo wrap will cost u around rm 100-200 easily...

and also if ur xtractor is not good enuf...the heat cant go out n might get chance of
ur xtractor crack...

just now i went to an xhaust shop...he show me a evo7 xhaust manifold crack coz of thermo wrap...ouch..

then he ask me to ceramic coat it...sure safe n reliable...
well...rm 800 to coat my xtractor...ouchh....

thermo wrap can cause steel to crack??... is it the heat inside too hot till crack??... explain more... coz i plan to wrap my capalang extractor too... it kinda start to rust and i dont want my engine bay get too hot... so how??...

joeker, that Thermotec thermal wraps u talking about, where to get them??... will they cause such problem as Yong_5290 said in his previous post??...

tat day i went ah lai xhaust...he told me rm 800 for my 4-2-1...

they say is normal mild steel wrap wit tat thermo wrap will cause the xtractor to crack coz of the heat trap inside...
tot of wrapping my 4-2-1 which is made of stainless steel but i'm also not very sure i'll crack o not...

arospeed 1 i saw in kakimotor in mid valley was rm 90...but not very sure how long...
our bro Satanic is selling em' also...but dunno wat brand

how to determine whether its mild steel or not??... mine is those capalang one cost rm150... consider mild steel??...

At that price, i'm sure that yours is a mild steel one. But normally only turbo manifold will crack easily if wrap with thermo wrap.

what about hotbits extractor, what material is it?

doesnt matter na or turbo 1...if the mild steel thick then mayb can thrmo wrap...
if thin thin 1 like hot bits, powerzone and zenden i think cannot...

tats y i plan to thermo wrap my other xtractor made of stainless steel
