Temujin,
It's a 6 speed auto box that's likely to be pinched from the Toyota Mark X.

for an auto box it's pretty sweet for a day to day commuter and when mucking around during the weekend.
The paddle shift feels pretty solid in terms of engagement feel and design ergonomics (if only there's a proper DSG/ PDK) kind of gearbox option.
Response from the autbox is not too bad as it does seem to hold in gear if u plan to bounce it on the rev limiter in sports mode and it does down shift when manually prompted when your rpm range is higher than normal compared to other auto box.

However it probably can't compare to the manual simply down to its ratio and the auto will be always an auto, there's bound to be some slip due to the nature of an auto box.

Overall sweet car. Just needs more freaking power for such a well honed chassis.

Nice sports ride but should have at least had a Toyota engine...maybe something like the 1/2 JZ or even 3SGTE....but bear in mind that the weight is very low so...

1JZ,2JZ 3SGTE.
How to compare to this new boxer.
The above Toyota engines are so many generations old compared to the new boxer engine.
Especially in terms of emmissions it would likely fail in todays world.
Even then those engines are gonna have a tough time being fitted into the tight engine bay of this car.
And even if they wanted to fit the above engines it would definitely affect the handling balance of the car.

However the Lexus ISF engine in this car would be nice hehe.

OK then...ISF....Yup, as long as it is Toyota/Lex, was actually my point.heh!heh!

This is just MY opinion....A Toyota Sports car should be powered by Toyota/Lex:driver:

at least toyota had a hand in developing the engine la hehe

and the balance / handling of the ft86 is only possible with a boxer engine, which allows for a super low centre of gravity, lower than most sportcars
