subs with humming sounds...

just got my subs installed....its powered dual 12" sub

problem is the subs are humming when i turn on the HU but turn the volume off all the way...it sounds like the subs following y engine rev...something like a 2nd exhaust type of sound. whats the problem ar?

the wiring was newly installed with the rca n power cables freshly installed from front of car to boot.

i suspect they paired the rca n power cables together...but whats the real cause ar? not enuff engine grounding? need to get my facts straight b4 i go get teh installers to fix the problem...

check first the amp's grounding. when u said powered sub i assume the amp is inbuilt with the box, so connection is pretty straightforward, just that the grounding point must be good (good contact, free of paint, suitable wire size, etc). if this is ok then it could well be rca wire is picking up engine rev signals into the music signals, best to separate them from power cables, or if theres an ecu nearby the wire, best to re-route it away.
